Part-Time Staff Contract Position

Pay Rate: 15 hours per week @ $43.50/hr

Kickstart Disability Arts & Culture is one of Canada’s oldest and largest professional arts organizations for disabled artists born out of community organizing. For the past 24 years we have progressed from a festival-centric organization to one that plans year-round programming in disciplines such as visual, performing, and literary arts, gaining international recognition without sacrificing our local commitments. As a professional Disability Arts and Culture organization our greatest goal is to present Disability Arts in a way that ties it to its political roots, recognizes its unique aesthetic values, and promotes its artistic excellence.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Fundraising Development Coordinator (FDC) for Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture will be responsible for developing and executing a fundraising strategy.The FDC will be required to collaborate with Kickstart’s Directors and Board of Directors in order to diversify fund activities as well as develop gift and sponsorship programs that are in line with the organization’s mission and core values. This position will provide support for developing and maintaining donor relations, while seeking out innovative ways to generate revenue. We are looking for a person who has experience in fund development in the Canadian nonprofit sector, has strong administrative skills, has a keen eye for detail and is a natural relationship builder.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work to identify gaps in current fundraising strategies in order to develop and implement new fundraising efforts
- Assist in grant applications, in collaboration with with Kickstart’s Directors and grant writer; coordinating application schedule; becoming familiar with current granting bodies and coordinating overall granting strategy
- Cultivating relationships with potential donors (individuals, corporations and foundations) and maintaining relationships with current donors
- Manage current fundraising platforms (such as CanadaHelps)
- Assist with the development and implementation of stewardship activities for donors, including report development and sponsorship recognition pieces
- Create and maintain donor database management, including data entry, and digital communication creation
- Collaborating on the development of promotional materials relating to fundraising initiatives and other related materials (newsletters, brochures, annual reviews, fact sheets, etc.) in collaboration with the Directors
- Attending monthly board meetings to report progress and developments to Kickstart’s Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Not-for-profit experience, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred. Post-secondary education will be considered an asset
- Minimum one year experience in Fund Development or related fundraising experience including donor engagement, event planning, and implementing fundraising strategies within a non-profit environment
- Strong administrative and computer skills – familiarity with microsoft office and/or Google Workspace and excel/spreadsheets
- Can promote and articulate the mission, mandate, philosophy, and values of Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
