Our AGM is an opportunity for members to have a voice; to learn more about the work Kickstart has done over the past year and to hear what we have planned for the 2020/21 season. This is also your opportunity to elect the new Board of Directors for our 22nd year.
We are thrilled to present Guest Speaker, Lawrence Shaprio.
Lawrence is a validated Deaf and Disability Artist with the Canada Council for the Arts and a past grant recipient from the B.C. Arts Council. A dancer for over a decade Lawrence has performed in London, Vienna, New York, Toronto and Vancouver at dance festivals and for commissioned choreography. One of his greatest triumphs was “discovering” which premiered in Toronto in 2016 and become the first dance piece in Canada to feature an above-knee amputee in a leading role. Lawrence is also a published author who’s writing on disability has been featured in a variety of publications including Disability Studies Quarterly in the United States and Canadian Scholar’s Press.
